Why UEFA reversed Arsenal’s Europa League quarter-final tie against Napoli

Arsenal will play the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie against Napoli at the Emirates Stadium after UEFA reversed the fixtures.

The Gunners came out of the hat in the first tie of the round in Friday lunchtime’s draw , but after Napoli – therefore scheduled to play their first leg away.

But the fact that Chelsea then also came out with an away leg first – they’ll play Czech side Slavia Prague – means that the Gunners have had to move their match.

That’s because the two London sides aren’t allowed to play at home on the same night in the Europa League, and UEFA give priority to the Blues as domestic cup holders.

That means that Arsenal will host Napoli on April 11, with Chelsea taking on Slavia at Stamford Bridge a week later.
