He&#8217;ll be sitting by the cage and I&#8217;ll give him a hug before I go in the Octagon.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Covington, who feels he was unfairly denied the belt in losing against Kamaru Usman\u00a0twice, compared his career to Trump&#8217;s after the 77-year-old&#8217;s insistence he was robbed of the last election.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He went on: &#8216;It is the same path as Trump. We&#8217;ve been cheated out of titles. We can be delayed but not denied.\u00a0Saturday will determine the best in the world. Donald Trump will wrap the belt around me if I win.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I&#8217;ll make the welterweight division great again. If Trump doesn&#8217;t get re-elected, this country is done.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Edwards was asked about Covington&#8217;s idolization of Trump when the latter showed up to the presser in a suit with Trump&#8217;s mugshot printed in the back.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/17\/03\/79048393-12872727-image-a-32_1702782617856.jpg\" height=\"444\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Leon Edwards is defending his title against self-confessed Trump fan Covington in Vegas<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/17\/03\/79048395-12872727-image-a-33_1702782623403.jpg\" height=\"440\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Covington says Donald will put the welterweight title around his waist if he beats Edwards<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;He needs to grow up and get a girlfriend or something,&#8217; Edwards said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Edwards could not contain his laughter when a reporter asked him to comment on Covington claiming that Trump will wrap the belt around his waist after beating Edwards at UFC 296 on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I think the whole scenario&#8217;s weird,&#8217; Edwards said behind a chuckle. &#8216;I don&#8217;t get the fascination with another man.
