All Elite Wrestling was founded last January by billionaire Tony Khan who signed some of professional wrestling’s biggest international superstars like Kenny Omega as well as Matt and Nick Jackson of The Young Bucks.
Former WWE superstars like Chris Jericho as well as Cody Rhodes also joined the new company and so did Reigns’ close friend and legendary Shield partner Dean Ambrose who now wrestles under his old gimmick of Jon Moxley.
AEW’s inaugural Pay-Per-View show Double or Nothing was very successful and many fans see them as a threat to WWE.
Reigns, however, insists there is no competition between the two brands because the Khan family’s promotion can’t be compared to Vince McMahon’s empire.
I’m never against optimism but I think you have foolish thoughts if you really think there’s a comparison or actual competition
The Big Dog says the wrestling giants are “world class all the way through” and believes that any comparison between them is just plain foolish.
The four-time world champion, though, admits AEW are just another option in professional wrestling.
Reigns told The Sportster: “I’ll just say this.
“It’s all so new and it was what it was with Ambrose leaving and popping up over there…
“Competition? No, there’s no competition.
“WWE, we know exactly what we’re doing.
“We have the best talent in the world.
“There’s no comparing, I say that with firm confidence, all the way from the top to the very bottom.
“We are world class all the way through.
“Is it another option? Sure.
“For wrestlers around the world and in the locker room [even WWE’s], AEW is another option and another place to get a cheque.
“I’m never against optimism but I think you have foolish thoughts if you really think there’s a comparison or actual competition.
“Just an option, which isn’t a bad thing.”
