Darren Gough has called out Steve Smith for blatant cheating during Austrlia’s controversial draw with India in Sydney.
The tourists batted superbly on day five to salvage a draw, but the efforts of Cheteshwar Pujara and Rishabh Pant were largely overshadowed by the antics of Australia captain Tim Paine and a number of his team-mates.
Under Paine’s leadership, Australia have worked hard to rebuild their image following Sandpapergate and the ball-tampering scandal which involved Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft during the infamous tour of South Africa three years ago.
Old habits, however, were on show during a tense final day in Sydney earlier this week with Paine caught sledging Ravi Ashwin and hile Smith seen scuffing away the guard mark of Pant.
The likes of Virender Sehwag have been highly critical of Australia’s conduct in the field and former England fast bowler Gough added his name to the list of growingi dissenters.
‘They just are dropping back into that zone. You have to keep an eye on this. Australia get your act together right now. It’s embarrassing.’
