Positive COVID-19 case among cricket media at Adelaide Oval

A member of the England media pack has tested positive to COVID-19, creating complications for the coverage of the series.

A member of the BBC TMS team returned a positive result. This person interviewed England batter Dawid Malan after play on Saturday night, but was wearing a mask so there is no issue over the player’s participation in the game.

It does, however, have potential ramifications for broadcasters.

Close contacts in South Australia are required to isolate for seven days and positive cases must isolate for 14 days.

Pat Cummins was sidelined from the second Test under these regulations. He has since returned home to Sydney.

The BBC and ABC teams have been told not to come to the ground.

Some members of the media are being told to take COVID-19 tests.

The Adelaide Oval press centre has been cleaned since play finished on Saturday night.
