Aussie cricket star Glenn Maxwell has revealed his engagement nightmare during his proposal to fiancee Vini Raman.
The 31-year-old allrounder missed Australia’s Tour of South Africa, but used his spare time wisely by proposing to Raman sometime in February after a courtship of more than two years.

Maxwell shared the news recently by posting an image to his 935,000 Instagram followers that showed the happy couple showing off Raman’s new engagement ring.
However, the Victorian star has now revealed their engagement was anything but the fairytale suggested by the photo.
Maxwell said his first three proposal plans all fell through on the day he planned to pop the question and even his fourth option was pushed to breaking point.
He told the Ordineroli Speaking Podcast with Neroli Meadows he ended up popping the question in a public park near Port Melbourne surrounded by school children and people walking their dog after his plans all fell through.
When asked to summarise his proposal, Maxwell replied: “Awkward”.
During a day out in Port Melbourne, Maxwell said he carried the ring in his pocket all through lunch, but had to abort from his original plan.
“We went for a walk and everything felt so wrong,” he said.
“I was so confident in my head about what I was going to do and it all went to s*** basically.”
He says he was more nervous proposing than playing in a World Cup final.
luckily he was wearing a black T-shirt to hide some of his nervous sweating.
“I was shocking,” he said.
“It just would have been a sweat patch, like one giant sweet patch.”
After Plan A and Plan B fell through at lunch his third plan was also ruined when Victorian teammate Will Pucovski randomly spotted them arriving at a rose garden, forcing Maxwell to switch to Plan D.
“Will Pucovski drives past, honking his horn and waving and I thought, ‘Well that’s ruined Plan C’. I was rattled at that stage,” Maxwell said.
Finally, a determined Maxwell decides to go with Plan D and asks the love of his life to follow him in a separate car to a public park nearby.
When he arrives to the park, he realises very quickly it was not the engagement story he had in his head.
“There were kids everywhere. This is a nightmare,” he said.
“It’s just going so badly. She drove past as I was trying to put the ring back in the box. She didn’t see me as I was ducking back into the car to get ready and shut the door and run back into the middle of the park. I hid behind a tree, would have looked like a real creep in a park.
“There were all these people around and I thought as long as everyone moves away from the centre of the park I should be fine.
There were still kids around and people walking their dogs and as I turned around I saw Vini start to walk the wrong direction. I feel like I pinpointed on Google Maps exactly where I wanted her to meet me, so I was a bit annoyed and then told her to come back the other way.
“I sort of pointed her away by saying there might be a cafe over there and she sort of turned away and I got straight down on one knee. But as I got down, she still had her phone in her hand and she must have panicked and pushed a button because she started calling me.
“So, my phone is vibrating in my pocket like mad. And I’m sitting there with a ring in my hand shaking anyway.
“And she started crying, and I was like, I’m not taking this phone call. What is going on here. So she ended up leaving a seven minute voice mail and it was the entire engagement chat. “I’ve still got that on my phone. So that’s pretty cool that we’ve still got that engagement memory.”
It all worked out in the end.
“It’s the worst thing a guy can do. It should be so easy. Everything should be so easy, but it’s just so difficult to do,” he said.
MAXWELL REVEALS ROCK BOTTOM BEFORE MENTAL HEALTH BREAK

A mentally-exhausted Glenn Maxwell wanted his arm to be broken during Australia’s World Cup campaign last year so he could have a break from international cricket.
He didn’t realise it at the time but the star allrounder was battling mild depression and anxiety.
Falling into a dark place would eventually lead to Maxwell stepping away from the game last October for more than a month.
The 31-year-old has revealed just how bad things got more before he took his mental health break.
A hostile nets session in July before Australia’s final World Cup group game against South Africa saw Maxwell and veteran Shaun Marsh both struck while batting.
“I knew he (Marsh) was in trouble when he came in, and immediately I felt bad for him,” Maxwell told the Ordineroli Speaking podcast with Neroli Meadows. “I just thought I hope he’s OK, and if anything, I wish we could swap our news (suspecting Marsh’s arm was broken).
“We went to the hospital together and we were both sitting there, I think both hoping for opposite news.
“When I got hit, I was angry and a part of me was hoping (my arm) was broken. “I was like ‘this is it, I just need a break’… I was thinking about things I could do on the way back to snap it.

“I had anger at other people and it didn’t make sense, but I was angry at myself for not being able to produce at all this World Cup.
“I thought it would’ve been an easy escape because I felt like I was going to get dropped at some stage and I thought maybe this is the way.” Maxwell played in Australia’s last two games of the ODI tournament, including the thumping eight-wicket semi-final defeat to England, but he continued on a downward spiral.
He entered October’s Twenty20 series against Sri Lanka knowing he was about to walk away from the game but still fired with the bat.
“I batted so well, I got 60-odd off less than 30 (balls) and barely missed the middle…but didn’t really enjoy any of it,” he said.
“You’re taking down an international attack and just not enjoying any bit of it.” Maxwell returned to captain Melbourne Stars and was named in the BBL’s team of the tournament.
Cricket’s great entertainer says he is now handling things much better and recently became engaged to partner Vini Raman.
