Anthony Yarde vs Joshua Buatsi is the fight to make – but Hearn won’t negotiate

Anthony Yarde returns to the ring tonight against Dec Spelman.

In my opinion Yarde is the number one light-heavyweight in the country and there are fights I want to see him in with both my fighters and Eddie Hearn's.

Yarde against Rio Olympian Joshua Buatsi, in particular, is one of those crossover fights I want to make between Queensberry and Matchroom.

But Hearn is still doing his best to avoid meeting me to help get the fights on that the fans want.

So we press ahead with our own plans which tonight sees Yarde topping an exciting card at York Hall.

Another good all-Queensberry scrap is Yarde against Lyndon Arthur which we were ready to do in April before the virus hit.

Arthur won a wide points decision against Spelman six weeks ago so now is Yarde's chance to get the stoppage and make an impression.

That will set up a clash between the pair for hopefully later this year quite nicely.

But Yarde can't afford to take Spelman lightly as he is a shrewd operator in the division.

This is the Hackney man's first real outing since he came close to stopping Sergey Kovalev for the WBO title last year.

He did have a little run out in Spain back in February but this is his first test since he went to Russia and came up just short.

Yarde's profile continues to grow as he heads into his 21st professional fight with 18 knockouts from 19 wins.

And you would have to say if he fought Buatsi at this stage of his career it would be my man who is the better known boxer to the general public.

That is saying something considering Buatsi collected a bronze medal at the Olympic Games just over four years ago.

But that is a credit to how we have promoted Yarde and we will continue to navigate him into big fights.

All I can say to my mate Eddie is, don’t be scared – my phone is always on.

Give us a ring and let's start getting these big fights on too.
