Conor McGregor urged to fight YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul by Eddie Hearn

Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has urged Conor McGregor to fight sensational YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul.

Paul has won all four of his professional fights, overcoming former UFC Welterweight champion Tyron Woodley last Sunday.

The controversial content creator has been calling for McGregor for some time now, leaving fans hopeful of a potential blockbuster clash between the two.

Hearn acknowledged that while McGregor would be an insane step up in quality for the 24-year-old, it would be an incredible opportunity for Paul to establish himself and make more money.

“Look, you’ve got to take your hat off,” Hearn told IFL. “What Jake Paul and Logan Paul did was quite amazing, you know? And the show was packed.

“I think he should fight Conor McGregor. I think [Jake Paul’s] going to get beat sooner or later, so why not just go and fight Conor McGregor and make loads of money. It’s actually quite a good fight.

“I don't know how they're going to make the weight up. Could Jake get to 170? I don't know – but just make the fight.

“Let them make a few quid and then walk off into the sunset.”

After defeating Woodley via split decision, Paul tweeted he was a ‘retired boxer’ – only to overturn the decision just over 24 hours later.

In his four fights, Paul’s first professional boxing victory came over fellow YouTuber Ali Loui Al-Fakhri – known as AnEsonGib – before defeating Nate Robinson and Ben Askren.

Askren, who admitted Paul impressed him in the win over Woodley in Ohio, believes the two will clash in the ring once again.

"I think him and Tyron happens again and here's why: so while I'll definitely admit that Jake is working hard at this and he has achieved a relatively high level of boxing proficiency, I think going from the level he's at to a world champion level is a long ways off," Askren said live on Instagram.

"Tyron was a world champion in mixed martial arts and I think I've had the conversation with him and he would recognise that him versus a world champion in boxing is a tough matchup.

"It's not going to go all that well."

McGregor has dismissed talk of a fight with Paul so far, remaining focused on UFC after his one professional boxing match ended in defeat to Floyd Mayweather back in 2017.

The 33-year-old is still recovering after breaking his leg in a TKO defeat to Dustin Poirer at UFC 264.
