Tyson Fury already looks in sensational shape ahead of his undisputed heavyweight showdown with Anthony Joshua later this year – despite claiming to be drinking 12 pints a day instead of training.

The Gypsy King is finally set to face arch-rival Joshua in 2021 after securing a £200million two-fight agreement last month.

But after wrapping up the deal, he left boxing fans astonished by claiming to be drinking 12 pints of lager a day and bringing his training regime to a halt.

He said in an interview with iFL TV: “I have stopped training at the moment, I am on holiday.

“I am drinking anything between eight, ten, 12 pints of lager a day, at the minute. But I am not eating so I am getting my calories through alcohol.”

However, in a photo posted on Twitter this week Fury does not resemble a man that’s been ditching training for a beer marathon.

The WBC heavyweight champion looks as lean as ever ahead of the clash with AJ, which is expected to take place in three to four months time.

And fans believe the claim to be drinking 12 pints a day was simply Fury playing mind games with his upcoming opponent.

One wrote: “Is that what 12 pints a day does to you….roll on the pubs opening *laughing emojis*”.

  • Another put: “Like I said, he's been talking about what he's drinking, all mind games this is the most focused he has been in any fight, losing to AJ he wouldn't handle it after how he's bad mouthed him in the past other than Ruiz 2”.

A third commented: “Haha been on 12 pints a day love his reverse psychology”.

While one stated: “That’s what he’s been saying [drinking 12 pints], doubt he has, mind games started, he beats Joshua if he’s anywhere near 100% fit and focused”.
