Mike Tyson fires “payday” shot at Woodley in prediction for Jake Paul fight

Mike Tyson has claimed Jake Paul will defeat Tyron Woodley in their boxing match this weekend, and brutally suggested that Woodley is only competing "to get his last payday."

Iron Mike has a close relationship with the Paul brothers and seems to have enjoyed Jake’s rise through the world of professional boxing.

The Problem Child turned pro in 2020 and currently boasts a record of 3-0 with 3 stoppages. He most recently defeated former MMA fighter Ben Askren via first-round knockout.

This weekend, Paul is set to meet former UFC champion Woodley in an eight-round bout that will surely be his toughest fight to date. Woodley was UFC welterweight king between 2016 and 2019 and defeated the likes of Darren Till, Demian Maia, and Stephen Thompson.

However, Woodley was recently released by the UFC after losing four consecutive bouts and failing to win a single round in any of them. His upcoming bout against Paul will, in all likelihood, be the final fight in his career.

In a recent episode, accompanied by co-host Henry Cejudo, Tyson was asked about Paul’s upcoming contest against Woodley

While many have argued that Woodley has what it takes to defeat the former Disney Channel actor, Iron Mike is convinced that Paul will make light work of the MMA veteran.

“I'm proud of them. Are they gonna fight? [Jake Paul’s] fighting an experienced fighter. That's so cool.

“Paul's a real good striker, and I think people do him a disservice when they go in there and say, "He's blonde-haired and blue-eyed, he's a white boy.”

“I think that also builds their (opponent's) courage up and causes them to get knocked out.

“Jake's gonna beat him. Woodley's not a puncher like that, that's why he wants to fight this guy, to get his last payday probably.”

The Problem Child is set to return to the boxing ring against former UFC champion Tyron Woodley in an eight-round professional boxing match.

The bout will be Paul’s fourth professional fight and Woodley’s debut in the boxing ring. It will also be Woodley’s first fight since he was released by the UFC earlier this year.

The clash is set to take place at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland on Saturday. Standout fights on the undercard include Tommy Fury vs Anthony Taylor and Daniel Dubois vs Joe Cusumano.
