Oleksandr Usyk took a dig at Andy Ruiz Jr and gave his verdict on the Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder trilogy fight. Parties, parades and marriage proposals followed Ruiz’s stunning win over Anthony Joshua in New York in 2019.
The Ukrainian, however, had a different method of celebration after defeating AJ at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium last month.
“I was eating chicken soup and buckwheat with mushrooms,” he said. “I’m not going to celebrate it like Andy Ruiz did!”
Joshua triggered his rematch clause to face Usyk next year in a bid to regain his heavyweight titles.
Should the Ukrainian defeat Joshua for the second time, he would be on the cusp of a blockbuster fight with Tyson Fury in a bid to become the undisputed heavyweight champion.

The Gypsy King knocked out Deontay Wilder in their phenomenal trilogy fight earlier this month, but Uysk didn’t seem to share the opinion on the fight as the rest of the boxing world.
“A very interesting fight,’ Usyk says. “I did watch the fight but I didn’t think much (of) it, they just wanted to kill each other.”
Since returning to Ukraine after becoming the new WBA, WBO and IBF king, the combat star has enjoyed watering his apple trees and taking his children to school.
“I’ve been spending time with my kids,” the 34-year-old explained.
“I’ve been fishing, walking around doing nothing. Just relaxing… nothing changed much. I keep thanking the Lord for everything I have in my life.
“I keep cheering up, loving life and spending my time doing things I love.”
In recent weeks Joshua visited the United States to speak with potential new trainers in a bid to expand his team ahead of his Usyk rematch.
Usyk is aware of Joshua’s plans but is feeling very relaxed about the developments.
“Of course I saw the videos because we are collecting all the information,” he explained.
“But I don’t think anything about this because it’s Anthony’s business – let him do whatever he wants.
“Thank God I have everything (sorted) in my team – every member is in place so it’s all good.”
