Wayne Rooney has urged King Charles III to give Tyson Fury a knighthood following his tenth-round stoppage victory over Derek Chisora last night. The Football icon was in attendance for the fight and was taken back by the spectacle.

Speaking to talkSPORT from ringside, Rooney praised Fury’s skills and stated that The Gypsy King ‘epitomizes everything that boxing is’. “He’s the best we’ve seen for a long time. I don’t think anyone will beat him. I think he’s an absolute legend, what he’s done for boxing. He’s entertaining. His skills are incredible,” he said.

“His mentality is incredible. If I’m being honest, I probably think he should be knighted. Because he hasn’t been afraid to go abroad. He’s won titles abroad. Defended them abroad. He sums up and epitomizes everything that boxing is.”

Despite Rooney’s insistence that Fury is the best heavyweight in the world, it is Oleksandr Usyk that sits at the top of the Ring Magazine divisional rankings. The pair are expected to square off against each other in the first undisputed heavyweight unification clash of the four-belt era to determine who truly deserves the title of No1.

Last night, the Ukrainian was in attendance for Fury vs Chisora III and faced off against the WBC champion on the side of the ring. Fury hurled a litany of crude insults at Usyk as the former undisputed cruiserweight champion maintained an ice-cold stare. The perfect promo for a fight that is so important to boxing.

“Usyk, you little b**** you’re next. Me and you Usyk, you’re next sucker. You little rabbit you’re getting it next. P****. Fifteen-stone little midget beat a bodybuilder well I’m not a bodybuilder,” said Fury.

“I’ve already done one Ukrainian Klitschko and I’ll do you too gappy teeth. You ugly little man. Let’s get it on. You may laugh, but I will end you, you little sucker. What are you going to do? You’re going to do nothing.”

According to Usyk’s promoter Alexander Krassyuk, the fight is being targeted for a date between February 18 and March 4 in the Middle East. There have been concerns as to whether all-four belts will be able to be placed on the line after the IBF recently ordered Usyk to defend his title against Filip Hrgovic.

However, Fury has insisted that he does not wish to fight for the title after the sanctioning body put a halt to his contracted rematch against Vladimir Klitschko in 2015 after ordering him to face their mandatory challenger Vyacheslav Glazkov instead. Fury refused the defence and was subsequently stripped of the belt.
