Raceday focus: Best bets, analysis for Ballarat on Thursday

Herald Sun form analyst Brad Waters runs the rule over Thursday’s card at Ballarat.

JUST JAKE (Race 5 No.2 – $4.80)

Just Jake is a consistent galloper that is always around the mark. He was solid when resuming at Cranbourne first-up and will only be improved for that. Expecting him to go one better.

HAILEYBURY MISS (Race 6 No.10 – $6.50)

Haileybury Miss chased well when not far away over this trip last time out. She’s improving with racing this time in and will again be hard to beat on her home track.

UNDER MY SPELL (Race 7 No.6 – $3.80)

Under My Spell returns to Class 1 company after a tough outing in stakes class in Adelaide last time out. Her form before that run was more than good enough for this and she ran second at Caulfield at her only other heavy-track run.

FIELDS OF IVY (Race 8 No.8 – $2)

Fields Of Ivy blitzed her rivals when running on powerfully to score in heavy ground here first-up. She’ll only be improved and can end the day on a high for punters.
