Form analyst Shayne O’Cass is confident a promising staying filly and a lightly-raced former Victorian gelding can get the day off to a winning start at Armidale.

Race 3, No. 10: STRELITZIA
Lightly-raced and progressive type who has been given a nice run in to stretching herself out to 1900m. Should get the run from the alley.
Race 2, No. 14: WARPHIL
Has been quite creditable in his four runs for Jungle Juice and Cessnock Cups King, Jeremy Sylvester. Close now to winning.
Race 1, No. 11: OURASIANPRINCESS
Still a maiden after 33 starts but she is coming off back-to-back seconds at her last two and she invariably performs here at Armidale.
Race 5: 4,7,8
Race 6: 3,4,5
Race 7: 3,7
Race 8: 1,2,3,4,9

JOCKEY TO FOLLOW
Matthew Palmer is riding in fantastic form at present and can keep the tally ticking over with some good rides on Tuesday.
THE INSIDE MAIL FOR ARMIDALE
Ourasianprincess has raced 33 times without a win but to be fair to the daughter of the iron-horse Bon Hoffa, she has finished runner-up at her last two starts. On top of that, she has visited Armidale five times for three placings. She’ll get there one-day. First starter Lapseki looked the part winning her trial 13-days ago at Scone. Has come back in good shape. Global Challenge has form around some handy enough types. Loburn Lass has drawn out but is fast.
Bet: Ourasianprincess to win, exacta 11 to beat 3
Warphil has just one third from his nine starts but it is worth noting that the son of Singo’s Up And Coming Stakes winner, War, has been with current trainer Jeremy Sylvester for only four of those nine and has run ‘4534’ so he’s been good. Barrier 3 is a winning draw if he can convert. Flying Euroes has raced 20 times and placed at half of them so on paper, he is a 50/50 chance to pay the place backers. Scatman has raced here six times for four placings.
Bet: Warphil to win, exacta 14 to beat 4
Strelitzia is a lightly-raced filly from the Mark Mason camp. The daughter of Albrecht finished all over the top of the others to win her maiden at her home track. A month between runs and she almost pulled off a Class 1 win at Gunnedah. Handy and progressive enough. Battle Guardian bumped into the moral of all morals here over this same trip beating all bar the winner Point Counterpoint. Fitter again for this. China Grove made a winning ‘debut’ at his first tun in NSW for Armidale trainer Robert Knight.
Bet: Strelitzia to win
Matthew McGuren rides Pump It Up for local trainer Stirling Osland.Source:News Regional Media
Pump it Up is one for the Elvis Costello fans and for the Stirling Osland fans too. Osland has found a nice race for this Headwater filly to kick off her 2021 campaign. She has always shown a degree of talent and if she gets this run to suit, she might charge late. Velvet Star has trialled up sufficiently well to have a say in the finish at this, her first start. She is a half to her stablemate Star Boy. Latin Dayz seems to be drawing closer to a win off those back to back placings at Grafton. Aussie Mythology has obvious claims.
Bet: Pump It Up to win
Tools Down is well-credentialed son of the mighty Written Tycoon. This three-year-old is trained by Melanie O’Gorman and has run seven times for three seconds and more importantly one win. Now that win also happens to be here at Armidale over this very same trip and he bolted in with none other than Casey Waddell in the saddle. Lady Jakeo’s great-granddaughter A Room Somewhere has ample pace and has the gun draw! Hard to find any fault with Persian Queen who led throughout to win (easily) on debut at Moree.
Bet: Tools Down to win, quinella 7,8, box trifecta 4,7,8,10,14
Military Bay was very good indeed last campaign winning three times and running a handful of placings. Fast forward to the present and the Mark Schmetzer trained gelding will be third-up into this off two ‘improving’ runs and getting to 1100m won’t harm his prospects either. Bethpage got a Ben Looker special when she won here on March 28 but kudos to the mare herself because she just roared away late to beat the aforementioned Tools Down. Why not again? Moonhawk has raced over this track/distance three times and placed three times.
Bet: Military Bay to win, quinella 3,4

Photogenic was bred (and is owned) by Gerry Harvey. It doesn’t mean as much now that Photogenic is a gelding but wow is he well-bred. Not only is he by the great More Than Ready but his grand-dam is none other than Lotteria who won two Group 1’s and was runner-to Makybe Diva in the Cox Plate. Long story short, Photogenic has done more than enough this time in to pocket this race. Kingstar Bullet won like Kingston Town at Armidale. Stays at home but skips a grade for this. Full Press is a last start winner with talent.
Bet: Photogenic to win
Lord Magnussen is another interesting horse for the breeding buffs. They both trace back on a direct line to the legendary Nijinsky. More importantly for Armidale punters is that this Newhaven Park bred, Glen Innes housed gelding has been excellent in his only four runs for Paul Grills. No Nijinsky but he won’t have to be to win this. Mystic Splendour has a nice draw if she can take advantage. Have to pay suitable respect to the likes of I’m On Break, Alpha Go and the ‘Highway horse’ The Snooperstar.
Bet: Lord Magnussen to win
