Cubs’ Alec Mills hurls MLB’s second no-hitter of 2020 in rout of Brewers

Chicago Cubs right-hander Alec Mills wasn't overly dominant, but he completely baffled the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday, tossing a no-hitter in his first career complete game.

The Cubs won in a 12-0 rout.

Mills, who tossed six scoreless innings in his last start, has been even more effective this time out. He allowed three walks and struck out five, while throwing 114 pitches.

In his fourth MLB season, Mills, 28, entered Sunday's game with an unremarkable 4-3 record and 4.74 ERA in eight starts.

The only other no-hitter in the majors this season was by another Chicago pitcher — Lucas Giolito of the White Sox blanked the Pittsburgh Pirates on August 25.

Mills' no-hitter was the 16th in Cubs history and first since Jake Arrieta in 2016.
