The White Sox are interested in a pair of stars.
Chicago plans to inquire about free agent infielder Manny Machado and outfielder Bryce Harper, according to a report from MLB Network, which cites unidentified league sources. It’s “too early to know” if the team has a chance at signing either player, the report says.

Machado, who was sent from the Orioles to the Dodgers before the trade deadline, registered a .297/.367/.538 slash line in 162 total games in 2018. Machado also hit 37 home runs and tallied 107 RBIs.
The 26-year-old Harper slashed .249/.393/.496 with 34 home runs and 100 RBIs in 159 games with the Nationals in 2018.

The six-time All-Star has spent all seven of his MLB seasons with the Nationals. He won the MVP award in 2015.
The White Sox finished last season in fourth place of the American League Central with a 62-100. They last made the playoffs in 2008.
