Conor McGregor drops WWE hint as retired UFC star calls out Vince McMahon

Conor McGregor has dropped another hint that he could be heading for a stint in WWE.

The former two-weight UFC champion announced his third retirement in four years last month citing a lack of interesting fights.

And having long been linked with following Ronda Rousey into the squared circle, McGregor could be edging towards his debut.

The Irishman shared a post from his media company MacLife which had the caption: "McMahon vs McGregor, CEO Flashmatch".

McMahon refers to Vince McMahon, the billionaire WWE promoter, who would welcome McGregor to his roster.

Earlier this year, wrestling legend Triple H, now an executive vice president at WWE, called on McGregor and McMahon to clash for the 'Billion Dollar Walk' title.

The strut was first performed by McMahon but McGregor adopted it for his walk to the Octagon for his UFC fights.

And Triple H said: "I think that Conor McGregor versus Vince McMahon with that Billion Dollar Walk on the line?! I mean, I think that’s a match made in heaven!

"The nature of what we do… It lends itself into combat sports. It lends itself into people like Conor McGregor, or others as it [did] with Tyson Fury and did it in the past with Floyd [Mayweather]."

McGregor's most recent retirement was met with widespread cynicism following his previous efforts to hang up his gloves.

He could be convinced to return to the cage late this year to take on the winner of lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Justin Gaethje which is pencilled in for September.

But McGregor's coach John Kavanagh offered little hope when asked about his famous pupil's future.

"Is Conor retired? Yes, he is as far as I can tell," he said. "That’s what he said isn’t it?

“I can’t convince Conor to do s***; Conor will tell Conor what he’s gonna do.

"And who knows what’s going to happen in the future. But as for now, he’s retired."
