Emma Raducanu has reportedly applied for trademarks as she appears set to become the first female £1billion athlete in the years ahead.

According to The Sun, Raducanu's lawyers have applied to safeguard usage of the words "Emma Raducanu", "Emma" and "Raducanu" in order to lay the foundations for her own business ventures.

It is believed that Raducanu and her team have intentions for the teenager to launch her own cosmetics, perfumes, clothing and footwear lines in the future.

The trademark applications have been made by the lawyers from her limited company, Harbour 6, which was set up back in 2020.

Raducanu netted £1.8million in prize money with her win at the US Open on Saturday and continued success could rake in £100million in prizes for the 18-year-old.

It is widely believed that she could receive a sponsorship offer that will surpass Roger Federer's £215million 10-year deal with Japanese clothing brand Uniqlo.

Reports also suggest that she could sign a deal with jewellers Tiffany & Co in China, where her mother is from and some of her family still live, that will be worth £20million a time.

Other sports stars have successfully become billionaires in the past thanks to lucrative sponsorship deals and savvy business investments, including the likes of Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods.

However, if Raducanu can amass wealth in excess of £1billion then she would become the first female athlete to do so.

Since winning her maiden grand slam at the weekend, she has attended the prestigious Met Gala and appeared on a host of American talk shows.

She could appear at the Transylvania Open in Cluj, Romania next month so that she can visit her nan in the nearby capital, Bucharest.

Raducanu's father and his family are from Romania and she was reunited with her parents as well on Thursday as she returned to the UK.

Raducanu was pictured returning to her family home in Bromley, where she reunited with her parents after they were unable to attend the US Open in New York.
