Hillcrest High School (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) pulled off the miracle of the 2020 high school football season on Friday night.
The visiting Patriots trailed Wetumpka 30-28 with two seconds left in regulation and the ball near their 40-yard line. Because a field goal was out of the question, Hillcrest coach Sam Adams called “Bronco” — a play inspired by Boise State.
Nine laterals and nearly one minute later, Hillcrest pulled off the incredible 34-30 victory after quarterback Ethan Crawford picked up a fumbled ball and ran 46 yards for the game-winning touchdown — breaking the hearts of Wetumpka faithful in the stands in the process.

“We practice something that kind of looked like that every Thursday,” Adams told AL.com. “If it’s a fumble and the other team picks it up, we’re behind anyway so it doesn’t matter.”
It’s a high school version of “The Play” — which Sporting News voted as the greatest play in college football history last season.
