NFL COVID-19 update: Giants offensive coordinator Jason Garrett tests positive for COVID-19

New York Giants offensive coordinator Jason Garrett has tested positive for COVID-19, the team announced Thursday.

The team said there do not appear to be any high-risk close contacts, as the coaches and players did not meet on Monday or Tuesday. The team canceled practice Thursday "out of an abundance of caution."

Garrett will continue to work remotely.

Tight Ends coach Freddie Kitchens will be in charge of calling plays on Sunday night against the Cleveland Browns, the team he most recently served as head coach.

The Browns fired the then-rookie head coach in 2019 after a 6-10 season, making him the 11th coach since 2000 to last only one year with an organization.
