Week 8 Fantasy RB Rankings

Is Le’Veon Bell playing in Week 8? The early signs suggest “no”, but let’s face it — we have no idea what Bell is going to do. (Update: Bell will be out Week 8.) We don’t have him in our Week 8 fantasy RB rankings, and he’s not the only significant running back missing. Sony Michel is absent because of a knee injury, and Ezekiel Elliott and Melvin Gordon are out because of bye weeks. LeSean McCoy, Dalvin Cook, and Chris Thompson are currently in (Update: Cook is officially out for Week 8), but we know they’re not locks. With plenty more injuries and committee situations ‘causing start ’em, sit ’em headaches, there’s a chance you’ll be turning to the waiver wire for some reinforcements.

Marshawn Lynch (groin) and Leonard Fournette (hamstring) are also out, creating opportunities for Doug Martin and, indirectly, Nick Chubb, respectively. Carlos Hyde should see his first action in Jacksonville this week, though it’s unclear how carries will be divvied up among him and T.J. Yeldon. Bilal Powell (neck), Royce Freeman (ankle), and Peyton Barber (ankle) are also banged up (Update: Powell is officially out), giving more life to their committee-mates, while Matt Breida and Raheem Mostert seem locked in a legitimate battle in San Francisco. (Update: Matt Breida and Peyton Barber have been removed for the time being because of an ankle injuries.)

Week 8 Rankings:
Quarterback | Wide Receiver | Tight End | D/ST | Kicker

The latter is most interesting considering the 49ers play Arizona’s league-worst run defense this week. Both Breida Alfred Morris and Mostert could be in play, though fantasy owners likely don’t feel great about either. The same goes for Packers’ backs Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams, who face a much tougher matchup in LA against the Rams. Multiple Seahawks might be worth using against the Lions, but that situation will likely be more confusing after the bye. Chris Carson was the clear lead back heading into Seattle’s week off, but Pete Carroll had an extra week to think of ways to screw over fantasy owners, which should make everyone nervous.
