Red Bull have trolled Mercedes on social media following the Turkish GP. Their drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez finished second and third respectively, while Valtteri Bottas won the race for the Silver Arrows.
However, it wasn’t all plain sailing for Toto Wolff’s men, as Lewis Hamilton, who started 11th due to a 10-place grid penalty, crossed the line in 5th and is now six points behind Verstappen in the driver’s standings.
In the week building up to the race Mercedes relived a horrific race for Hamilton and Bottas at the German Grand Prix in 2019 on social media.
The usually well-oiled machine had a day to forget in the rain-affected race which saw both drivers crash out and fail to finish.
The race marked the team’s 125th anniversary in motorsport and they opted to drive with a special livery.
At the race in Hockenheim two years ago, the Silver Arrows were dressed in classic attire and coloured the car white.

Mercedes made fun of themselves and the race in Germany where they drove with the new design, in a bid to to ramp up the pressure on Red Bull who were also driving with special livery at the weekend’s Turkish Grand Prix.
The reigning constructors’ champions tweeted the following alongside an upside down face emoji: “special livery? We tried that once.”
The Milton-Keynes based team enjoyed a far more successful race than their rivals with their very own special white design in Turkey – as a thank you gesture to departing supplier Honda.
And then after their successful time out in Istanbul, Red Bull decided to mock Mercedes by tweeting: “(trophies) in a (white) special livery? We tried that once”, and ended with a wink emoji.
Verstappen said he would reward teammate Perez with tequilas after superbly holding up Lewis Hamilton during the Turkish GP.
The Dutchman regained the lead in the driver’s championship after finishing second, while his Mercedes rival crossed the line in fifth following an error in judgment with his team.
Perez, who came third, engaged in a superb duel with Hamilton as the cars went wheel to wheel during an enthralling lap.
It appeared as though the Brit had passed the Mexican around the outside, but the Red Bull held his nerve superbly and was able to retain his place in front of the seven-time world champion.
During Verstappen’s interview with Sky Sports after the race, Perez interrupted and told his teammate: “You owe me a couple of tequilas!”
“I’ll get them to you in Mexico – before the weekend or after?” Verstappen asked, referring to Perez’s home Grand Prix in Mexico on November 7, to which he replied: “After!”
The F1 circuit will head to Austin, Texas next for the United States Grand Prix on October 24.
