Maligned rugby league star Bryce Cartwright’s career is in tatters after he was released from his $450,000 contract with the Gold Coast Titans effective immediately.
The Courier Mail reported Cartwright has officially parted ways with the Titans, two months after walking out on the club for family reasons.
Cartwright has scored 19 tries in 112 games in the NRL since debuting for the Panthers in 2014 and played 43 of those for the Titans who he joined in 2018.

Cartwright last played for the Titans in a win over the Warriors in Round 9, before exiting the bubble to move to Sydney to follow his wife Shanelle and their two children.
The Titans are expected to announce the 25-year-old’s official release on Thursday afternoon.
The club reportedly holds fears for Cartwright’s welfare as he deals with some family issues stemming from his wife’s decision to move interstate with their children.
It has been a turbulent season for Cartwright who was embroiled in a anti-vax saga in relation to the pandemic protocols that players were required to undertake to take part in the NRL during the coronavirus outbreak.

Cartwright has fought debilitating knee injuries as he striven to keep his once promising rugby league career going.
He was tipped as a NSW star of the future when he burst onto the scene at the Panthers, before he was shown the door to sign with the Titans on a $2 million four-year-deal in 2018.

However Cartwright struggled to regain the form of his early career at Penrith after he suffered a badly broken ankle and his defence was often criticised as he dealt with shoulder issues.
Given his injury history an off-field struggles it remains to be seen if he will get another opportunity at a rival NRL club, although for the right price he would be a handy pick-up if he can return to somewhere near his best.
