Bulldogs target Phil Gould to rebuild ‘family’ club

Canterbury have earmarked Phil Gould as the man to help turn the club around if he is prepared to leave the Warriors.

The Bulldogs, via a third party, have sounded out Gould about a similar role to the one he held at Penrith during the rebuild of the runaway competition leaders. Talks have been going on behind the scenes for several weeks about the prospect of the premiership-winning coach shifting to Belmore.

It has been a tough start for Barrett at Canterbury. His side sit at the foot of the NRL ladder after just one win from 12 games. Marquee recruit Kyle Flanagan has struggled to the point of being dropped, while the club will have to wait until next year before Josh Addo-Carr, Matt Burton and Brent Naden join.
