Manly coach Des Hasler has categorically ruled out the Sea Eagles hiring former North Queensland turned Maroons Origin coach Paul Green to help his last-placed side.
Green had been linked to the Sea Eagles after the board mentioned his name as a potential candidate to assist the battling club.
The suggested move wasn’t intended to undermine Hasler but just an addition to his current coaching staff that includes Chad Randall and Michael Monaghan.
Manly chairman and majority owner Scott Penn confirmed the Sea Eagles had discussed bringing Green into the fold.
“Des is constantly looking at how he can continue to evolve the coaching staff,” Penn confirmed when approached about the links to Green.
“There’s been various discussions and Paul (Green) is one of a number of options.”

However, Hasler denied the Sea Eagles would be hiring Green or any other person as an assistant.
“There are no plans and there is no discussion about bringing anyone in,” Hasler said.
Asked if he felt offended that the club was looking to bring in someone else, like a 2015 premiership winner in Green, the Manly coach said: “No, they are just trying to help.
“They are probably trying to find answers like we all are, but as I said no plans, no discussion.
“As I said there is no way forward on that – end of story.”
Meanwhile, Hasler confirmed star fullback Tom Trbojevic looked set to return from his hamstring injury next Saturday against the Titans in Mudgee.
