Manchester United star Amad Diallo aimed a cheeky dig at team-mate Bruno Fernandes after his stunning free kick for Ivory Coast.

The 18-year-old, who arrived from Atalanta in January to score in the Europa League, marked the second appearance for his country with the winning goal to open his Elephants account.

With seven minutes of stoppage time played at 1-1 against Burkina Faso in a friendly, the forward curled a free kick from just outside the penalty box into the top-left corner.

Amad shared a clip of the goal on his Instagram page, picking up more than half a million views in hours of publishing.

But it also got the attention of United team-mate Fernandes, who is preparing for Euro 2020 with Portugal.

Writing in the comments, the midfielder jokingly criticised the teenager’s free-kick technique with “but you did it wrong” in Italian, an embarrassed emoji and laughing emoji.

The new Old Trafford star, though, had a cheeky dig of his own by replying in the same language: “But you taught me.”

Should Amad Diallo play a bigger role for Manchester United next season? Let us know in the comments section.

Diallo came off the bench for Ivory Coast just after the hour mark to hand his country the victory.

Following Lassina Traore's opener for the visitors, Ibrahim Sangare levelled the tie with 20 minutes to go.

In what was just his second appearance for his country, Amad, who joined the Red Devils from Atalanta for an initial fee of £19m back in January, was the hero.

The Ivorian made eight appearances for United in his debut campaign, scoring his first goal in the Europa League round-of-16 first leg against AC Milan.

While three of his appearances came in the Premier League, grabbing an assist in the 2-1 loss to Leicester last month.

But it has been even better for Fernandes, whose 28 goals and 17 assists put him in contention for the PFA Player of the Year which he lost to Manchester City's Kevin de Bruyne.
