Antonio Rudiger is reportedly edging closer to a move to Real Madrid, as Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel faces the prospect of losing one of his best defenders.

The German, who is out of contract with the Blues in the summer, will be allowed to sign a pre-contract with rival clubs come January

According to the Independent, Los Blancos are hot in pursuit of the 28-year-old, having made an "informal agreement".

Rudiger is represented by his brother, Sahr Senesie, who has reportedly met with Madrid representatives last month, where he sorted an agreement with the Spanish side.

Nothing has yet been signed, while Chelsea remain hopeful of keeping hold of their man, having already provided him with an offer.

But their fresh deal is not as lucrative as that of Bayern Munich, who Senesie met with also, and also Real's offer.

Tottenham and Manchester United are also keen, according to the same report, but Rudiger would prefer not to join a rival club in the Premier League.

Tuchel said last month about the situation involving Rudiger: "He (Rudiger) has been outstanding from day one and is getting better and better at a very high level.

“The situation is the situation. We want him to stay, this is very clear and he knows it.

"But sometimes in these situations, there is a certain delay and, obviously, there is a delay in these talks and his decision.

"It can happen these days but it does not affect his mentality, it doesn’t affect his quality, it doesn’t affect his behaviour.

"He is fully committed to Chelsea right now and I am absolutely sure he feels the trust, respect and love from the club and spectators."

Andreas Christensen and Thiago Silva are also set to be out of contract in the summer.
