Arsenal look set to ramp up their winter business with Juventus ace Arthur Melo and Leicester star Youri Tielemans topping Mikel Arteta's wishlist.
The Spaniard remains keen on acquiring another central midfielder in the January transfer window as both Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny are away at the Africa Cup of Nations.
With the Gunners also sanctioning Ainsley Maitland-Niles' loan move to AS Roma, Arteta feels the squad is particularly thin in the middle of the park.
The north Londoners were forced to hand 18-year-old Charlie Patino his first senior start in the FA Cup against Nottingham Forest on Sunday as the young Gunners were taken apart by Steve Cooper's side.
Now with Arsenal battling for an outside shot at the Champions League, Arteta is readying a winter splurge on some of Europe's hottest young talent.
A report from Goal states talks have taken place between the Gunners and Juventus over the potential loan singing of Brazilian playmaker Arthur Melo.
The Bianconeri are not averse to shipping the 25-year-old out on loan for the remainder of the season and Arsenal have already made contact surrounding a six-month spell at the Emirates.
Juve though are eager to secure a replacement before sending Melo to England and are keeping close tabs on Lyon maestro Bruno Guimaraes.
Sources in Italy suggest the Old Lady are close to signing a midfield on loan, paving the way for Melo's loan spell at Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Arteta has also held talks with Leicester over the permanent transfer of Tielemans.
The Belgian star has just 18 months remaining on his contract and is not expected to pen a new deal at the King Power Stadium.
Tielemans looks set to stay in Leicestershire for now, but Arsenal are monitoring the situation closely and have even spoken to his representatives at London Colney about a summer switch to north London.
Arsenal are hoping the attraction of Champions League football, should they achieve it, would be too much for the Belgian to turn down.
