Arsenal fans believe they have found the player who can take Mesut Ozil’s place after their remarkable 3-3 draw with West Ham.
The Gunners found themselves 3-0 down within the first 35 minutes after goals from Jesse Lingard, Jarrod Bowen and Tomas Soucek.
But own goals from Soucek and Craig Dawson before Alexandre Lacazette’s late header saw Mikel Arteta’s side rescue a draw from the jaws of defeat.
It came thanks in large part to a stunning second-half performance in which the visitors dominated possession and created numerous chances.
The comeback also saw Arsenal fans pick out the man they believe can take Ozil’s place in the side.
That player is Martin Odegaard, who continues to impress since arriving at the Emirates on loan from Real Madrid.
Though he has only scored two goals for the Gunners, Odegaard has been one of Arteta’s standout players in recent weeks.
And his good performances continued against West Ham, as he allowed Arsenal to control the second-half.
The Norwegian finished the game with a pass accuracy of 93 per cent, having completed all of the four dribbles he attempted and creating four chances.
In further evidence of his impressive playmaking display, Odegaard also completed seven passes into the box in open play today, the most by an Arsenal player in a single game this season.
And Odegaard’s performance at the London Stadium has seen Gunners supporters take to Twitter to anoint him as Ozil’s successor.
“Martin Odegaard has simply become everything that we wanted Mesut Ozil to be,” one commented.

“Martin Odegaard with the best playmaking performance I've witnessed by an Arsenal player since Mesut Ozil against Leicester City in 2018,” another fan wrote.
Some fans went as far as saying that Odegaard has now surpassed the performances of Ozil.
Tweeting a photo of Odegaard, Piers Morgan wrote: “This guy just put in a better performance than we saw from Ozil in the past 5yrs. Serious talent, terrific work ethic, great mentality. We need to sign him permanently.”
