Arsenal’s London derby win over Chelsea sparked a brilliant from NBA star Josh Richardson.
The Gunners secured a shock 3-1 victory on Boxing Day to secure their first Premier League win in seven games.
Mikel Arteta was delighted with the result at full time, praising the north London side for securing a “really big win” to turn around their fortunes.
And it also delighted Richardson, who is playing his sixth NBA campaign with the Dallas Mavericks after moving from the Philadelphia 76ers last year.
During his post-match interview after beating the LA Clippers 124-73, the presenter said: “Josh, thanks for the time.
“I knew things were looking good for you and the Mavs today when the Gunners beat Chelsea yesterday to get the weekend started off right.”
Hearing the news for the first time, Richardson yelled in celebration while pumping his fists in the air.
The 27-year-old had his interviewers in stitches as he continued celebrating by dancing around the basketball court.
This footage was shared on Twitter on Sunday evening, where the Gunners faithful were left in stitches at the NBA star’s reaction.
“Love this – COYG,” one supporter said.
Another commented: “This is my guy now.”
While a third suggested Richardson could play a role at the north London side, with: “Can we do a trade?
“We need this kind of energy for Arsenal.”
And a fourth added: “Can he play as a creative midfielder?!”
With a fifth simply writing: “A real Gooner.”
It comes as Arsenal’s win also earned praise from Match of the Day pundit Alan Shearer, who has declared the side as having chances of being relegated.
He said: “I know some of his changes were forced on him today because of illness or injury but Arteta made six changes.
“He had to after recent performances. They worked so hard and they were better all over the pitch than Chelsea. They were tight at the back, solid in midfield and creative up top.”
