Barcelona ‘make Lautaro Martinez their plan B if they cannot sign Erling Haaland this summer’ with cash-strapped Inter Milan expected to drop their £94m asking price… but ‘Ronald Koeman is NOT on board with a move for the Argentine striker’
- Barcelona could reignite their interest in Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez
- They tried to sign the Argentine last year but £94m price proved beyond them
- No 1 target for the summer remains the Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland
- But Martinez has reportedly emerged as a plan B if Barca can’t sign Norwegian
- Coach Ronald Koeman isn’t convinced about Martinez and his abilities
Barcelona ‘may reignite their interest in Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez’ if Erling Haaland proves too expensive this summer.
The Nou Camp side were strongly linked with the Argentine last year but the big money move didn’t materialise for financial reasons.
With Barcelona still searching for a world class striker, Borussia Dortmund star Haaland is the first choice but he will cost upwards of £150million and is attracting interest from several leading clubs.

With that in mind, Diario Sport say Martinez, who has scored 16 times for the Serie A leaders this season, has been identified as a possible plan B.
They report that Martinez, 23, does still wish to play for Barcelona, especially if his compatriot Lionel Messi remains with the club.
What’s more, Inter have their own financial issues and need to offload a prize asset during the summer window.

Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman isn’t convinced that Martinez is the right fit for Barcelona
Martinez could be that man, with Barcelona reportedly confident they could sign him this year for a price significantly lower than the £94m that was his release clause until last July.
However, one snag is that coach Ronald Koeman isn’t completely convinced Martinez is the player Barcelona need and they would only go after him if they fail to sign Haaland.
Haaland’s father Alfie and his agent Mino Raiola visited Barcelona earlier this week for talks before going on to a meeting with Real Madrid, another interested party.

Dortmund, for their part, continue to insist that £154m-rated Haaland is not for sale. Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea have also been linked with the Norwegian star.
Martinez, who has 11 international goals in 21 appearances for Argentina, will hope to deliver Inter their first Scudetto since 2010.
They have a six-point advantage over rivals AC Milan at the top of the table and still retain a game in hand.
