Lionel Messi speaks to reporters at Barcelona Airport
Barcelona star Lionel Messi would reportedly prefer a move to PSG over Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s side are confident of landing the 33-year-old when the transfer window reopens at the end of the season. But it appears the prospect of playing alongside Neymar at the Parc des Princes is swaying the Argentina international into a move to France instead.
Messi still wants to leave Barcelona for a new challenge elsewhere, despite the La Liga giants denying him a move away from the Nou Camp back in the summer.
The Catalan titans have endured an inconsistent start to the current campaign and currently sit eighth in the La Liga table.
Messi wants one last shot at winning the Champions League, with the veteran last lifting the prestigious prize back in 2015 when Luis Enrique was in charge.
And, according to OKDiario, he feels he’d stand a better chance of lifting the trophy with PSG rather than Guardiola’s side.
It’s claimed he feels PSG’s dominance of Ligue 1 would work in his favour, allowing him and his team-mates to focus on winning the trophy for the first time in the club’s history.
Messi also wants to reunite with Neymar.

He told Barcelona to sign the Brazil international back in the summer transfer window of 2019 but they ultimately decided to fork out on Antoine Griezmann instead.
Neymar has long dreamed of playing alongside his fellow South American and that, it seems, could now be about to happen.
Furthermore, Messi likes the fact Paris is less than a two hour flight away to Barcelona.
And that would enable him to hop between the two cities should his family decide to remain in the city they’ve lived over the years.
PSG are also willing to pay Messi his huge £500,000-a-week salary.
And whether he follows in the footsteps of Neymar by swapping Barcelona for France is something only time will tell.
While Messi is said to be leaning towards a move to PSG, former City star Pablo Zabaleta thinks he should move to the Premier League instead.
Zabaleta told Stadium Astro: “It is sad to see Messi in that situation.
“I never thought he would be in a final year of his contract at Barcelona.
“The team is not playing well and it seems that he is not enjoying his football.
“We will see what happens with Messi at the end of the season.
“He has a close friend in Sergio [Aguero] at Man City and has worked with Pep at Barcelona before, so they know each other.
“Some of the people on the board also know Messi.
“If Messi decides that he wants to leave Barcelona, that he wants to go and play in a different league, in a different country, of course Man City would be one of them.”
Messi is expected to feature when Barcelona face off against La Liga leaders Real Sociedad on Wednesday night (8pm).
