Brighton have confirmed the signing of Kjell Scherpen from Dutch outfit Ajax to deputise for first choice goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.
A Netherlands under-21 international, Scherpen stands at 6ft 8in tall, boasting quite the presence between the sticks, an advantage for any goalkeeper.
If Scherpen were to make an appearance for Graham Potter's side, he would equal the record of tallest player to feature in the Premier League, a title currently shared by fellow shot-stopper and former Man City star Costel Pantilimon and ex-Everton striker Lacina Traore.
Seagulls boss Potter said: "We're delighted to welcome Kjell to the club, he's a player we have been monitoring for a while and we see him as a player with a lot of the right attributes.
"As well as his size he is someone we think will work very hard to improve all aspects of his game as he gets used to English football."
Scherpen's actual record of first-team football experience is limited, having only made 30 appearances for Ajax's second team in two seasons before finally making his senior debut earlier this year.
He went on to feature four times for Ajax's first team in the wake of the regular number one Andre Onana's absence, due to a suspension for taking a banned substance.

Scherpen had a taste of European football during his time at Ajax having played one game in the Europa League quarter final against Roma in April.
The reasons behind the transfer are obvious when factoring in the minor exodus Brighton have had in the goalkeeping positions, with both back-up shot stoppers Christian Walton and Mat Ryan departing the club this summer.

Walton had spent the last eight years at the Amex, but only made six appearances in that time, with none of them coming in the Premier League.
Ryan, meanwhile, enjoyed a six-month stint at Arsenal over the course of the second half of last term, but has since joined La Liga outfit Real Sociedad on a permanent basis this summer.
