Chelsea and Manchester City became the English sides that qualified for the Champions League quarter-finals following victories over Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig respectively, though Liverpool and Tottenham were unable to join them as they suffered defeats to holders Real Madrid and AC Milan.
Those four teams have joined Napoli, Bayern Munich, Benfica and Inter Milan in the final eight. UEFA are holding the draw at the House of European Football in Nyon Switzerland on Friday, which will be followed by the draw for the two semi-final ties. A third draw will then take place to decide which club would be assigned as the ‘home’ team for this year’s final in Istanbul.
It is the tail end of the competition with just two teams vying for glory at the end of the year in Turkey, as Manchester City will be hoping they will be crowned champions for the first time in their history. Chelsea have won the Champions League twice, most recently against Pep Guardiola’s outfit in the 2021 final, as both teams would relish the chance of a repeat.
