  • The fan tried to get a selfie with the striker during their Champions League game
  • She flattened the man – and was then given a yellow card by referee Sara Persson
  • Sportsmail can now reveal that the fan has been been suspended by the club

A Chelsea fan who was flattened by star striker Sam Kerr has been suspended by the club, Sportsmail can confirm. A young male supporter ran onto the pitch during the second half of the Blues’ 0-0 draw with Juventus at Kingsmeadow on Wednesday evening.

Holding a mobile phone, he attempted to get a picture with Chelsea captain Magdalena Eriksson as stewards slowly tried to catch up with him.

But a frustrated Kerr took matters into her own hands as she shoulder-barged the unsuspecting intruder to the ground.

The Australian was cheered by the Chelsea supporters but was booked by referee Sara Persson.

Security eventually caught up with the supporter and he was identified as a Chelsea member, but he has now been suspended from attending future matches.

‘We’ve seen in the growth of the game there is a sense that the players are more in demand,’ Chelsea boss Emma Hayes said.

‘I think it should serve as a reminder to our stadiums and our stewards that we have to put player protection first.

‘I don’t know why he didn’t just wait until the end. He could have had a photograph if he really wanted one.’

Should Chelsea progress to the knockout stages of the Champions League next week, they will host a quarter-final fixture in March.
