Chelsea: Fikayo Tomori praised by boss Frank Lampard
Chelsea have reportedly made a decision on Fikayo Tomori’s future amid interest from Leeds United and West Ham. The defender has been tipped for a move away from Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window after struggling for game time under Frank Lampard this season.
The 22-year-old has been pushed down the pecking order at Chelsea following the summer signing of Thiago Silva, with Kurt Zouma preferred as the Brazilian’s first-choice centre-back partner.
Tomori has been restricted to two appearances in the EFL Cup and just one half of Premier League football so far this season.
He has not even made the bench for Chelsea’s last eight league games, and has not played a minute in the Champions League this term.
His situation is in sharp contrast to last season, when Lampard relied on him particularly in the first half of last season as the manager blooded several young players.

West Ham were keen to take Tomori on a season-long at the beginning of the current campaign, but the defender chose to stay and fight for a place at Chelsea.
With the transfer window re-opening next month, Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa is interested in signing the defender, according to Football Insider.
Bielsa is facing a defensive injury crisis, with Robin Koch, Diego Llorente and Gaetano Berardi all sidelined, while Luke Ayling had to continue as a makeshift centre-back in Leeds’ 5-2 win over Newcastle on Wednesday.
The Hammers could also renew their interest in Tomori – but both Premier League sides could end up being disappointed.

Rennes have also expressed an interest in signing Tomori on loan for the rest of the season, and the French club is the defender’s most likely destination, according to a report from TalkSPORT.
The report says Chelsea have a good relationship with Rennes following the summer transfer of goalkeeper Edouard Mendy from the Ligue 1 outfit.
Tomori made 22 appearances in all competitions last season as well as winning his first England cap.
But it looks like the Canada-born centre-back will have to accept a move away from Stamford Bridge for now in order to continue his development.
