Sergio Ramos has unwittingly handed Chelsea a significant transfer boost by joining Paris Saint-Germain this summer. The Spaniard departed Real Madrid following a glittering 16-year career in the Spanish capital.
Ramos won every trophy possible with Real and decided to seek a new challenge when his contract expired at the end of last month.
The 35-year-old has signed for the Ligue 1 side as they look to overcome a disappointing campaign, in which they were surprisingly pipped to the league title by Lille.
PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino has already made several big-name signings to help him restore his side to the top of the table.
Former Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum followed Ramos in signing for the Parisians on a free transfer deal.

They have also signed marauding right wing-back Achraf Hakimi from Borussia Dortmund for around £50m.
Ramos and his team-mates will also hope that PSG’s big summer revamp will help them finally win an elusive Champions League trophy, but the defender has seemingly gifted European rivals Chelsea a major lift by joining.
According to French newspaper L’Equipe, Chelsea transfer target Presnel Kimpembe is considering his future following the arrival of Ramos.
The Frenchman does not return to training until Friday but is understood to be anticipating a busy few weeks of talks over his role in Pochettino’s team.

Kimpembe played 28 times in Ligue 1 last season and played in 11 Champions League ties.
But the 25-year-old might be pushed down the pecking order by Ramos, who will likely partner Marquinhos in defence.
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, who managed Kimpembe at PSG, wants to make a couple of signings this summer to help him lift the Blues back among the Premier League’s elite sides.

A storming run up the table ended in Chelsea just about scraping a fourth-placed finish, despite a defeat against Aston Villa on the final day of the season.
Tuchel is targeting Chelsea’s first top-flight title since 2017 and has plotted a big-spending transfer window.
A defender is reportedly likely to arrive at Stamford Bridge, with Kimpembe a possible signing.
Tuchel also wants a world-class striker after seeing his side struggle in front of goal at times during the early months of his reign.
A £150m move for Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland has been mooted but might be difficult to achieve this summer.
Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski has also been touted as an expensive arrival.
West Ham’s Declan Rice is understood to have been earmarked as a possible midfield signing, despite Chelsea’s riches in the position.
However, the Hammers’ £80m valuation of the England international, justified by his Euro 2020 performances, might be a stumbling block.
