Cristiano Ronaldo’s electrifying return to Juventus meant he showed up rival Lionel Messi.

The Portuguese superstar has been out with Covid-19 since his national side’s Nations League fixtures earlier this month.

It meant he missed two Serie A draws as well the Old Lady’s opening Champions League games.

These included a 2-0 win over Dynamo Kiev and a 2-0 home loss to Barcelona, which would have seen him face rival Messi.

But footage has emerged of the 35-year-old wasting no time finding his form in front of goal.

In the clip, the Italian giants are drawing 1-1 with Spezia at the Stadio Dino Manuzzi.

There are 58 minutes on the clock and Ronaldo has been on the pitch for just two minutes.

Alvaro Morata receives the ball in the middle of the pitch, turning to find the Juventus No.7 running in a gap.

And he picks it up with one touch, drawing the Spezia goalkeeper form his line before accelerating and pushing out to the right.

Ronaldo then slots into an open goal for his fourth of the campaign, wheeling away to make his signature celebration.

The Portuguese superstar is then called upon to slot home from the penalty spot with 15 minutes to go, making it 4-1 to Juventus.

While the 35-year-old was celebrating on the pitch, Messi may have been left feeling in the dumps a few hundred miles away.

Ronaldo’s goals mean he has two in just 34 minutes of play since October 1 with his coronavirus spell included.

In the same time, Barcelona’s captain has played seven games [630 minutes] and found the net the same number of times while also grabbing two assists.

And fans of the Juventus forward took the chance to take a dig at his rival on social media.

“You can only have one GOAT,” one supporter said.

Another commented: “Ronaldo is back – Messi who?”

While a third added: “Ronaldo got Covid, Messi is the one showing symptoms.”

Ronaldo’s goals mark a strong response to Barcelona fans who trolled him after Messi’s goal at the Allianz Stadium last month.
