Crystal Palace ‘on the brink of signing Joachim Andersen in a £23m move from Lyon’ as Patrick Vieira ramps up his Selhurst Park rebuild with the defender who spent last season on loan with Fulham
- Crystal Palace are edging closer to a £23million deal for Joachim Andersen
- The Lyon defender spent the 2020-2021 campaign on loan with Fulham
- Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United were also thought to be interested
- But the 25-year-old has reportedly held positive talks with Patrick Vieira
Crystal Palace are reportedly closing in on a £23million deal to sign Lyon defender Joachim Andersen.
The centre back impressed during his loan spell with Fulham last season, despite their relegation to the Championship, and has attracted interest from several clubs including Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United.
But according to The Sun, the 25-year-old has held extremely positive talks with new Palace boss Patrick Vieira and is ready to put pen to paper on a five-year contract.

The initial fee for the defender is set to be £19m with add-ons taking the deal to a possible £23m.
Andersen, who was part of the Denmark side to reach the semi-finals of Euro 2020, made 31 appearances in the Premier League last season.
He took the captain’s armband at Craven Cottage after only four games and was one of the club’s standout performers, helping them keep nine clean sheets.

The defender joined Lyon in the summer of 2019 and made 32 appearances in his first season before being loaned to Fulham.
Palace are in the process of rebuilding under Vieira, who was appointed as the club’s new manager earlier this month.
The Frenchman has already signed Marc Guhei from Chelsea and Michael Olise from Championship side Reading.
Andersen would be the latest impressive addition after the Eagles saw several first-team stars depart at the end of the season.
Andros Townsend joined Everton on a free transfer while defenders Gary Cahill and Patrick van Aanholt have both left after failing to agree new deals.
