David de Gea’s Man Utd mindset unchanged despite strong Dean Henderson warning

David de Gea’s mindset at Manchester United has remained unchanged – despite a strong warning from fellow goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

The Spaniard, who made it 10 seasons at Old Trafford in the 2020/21 campaign, suffered a disastrous end to the campaign with his missed penalty in the Europa League final.

Other performances saw the 30-year-old and a family matter saw his fellow goalkeeper step in as well as keep the No.1 spot in the second half of the season.

And it led Henderson to make a big statement about what the future holds for him at Old Trafford.

Speaking on England duty ahead of Euro 2020, the shot-stopper said: “Yeah, 100 per cent. I've spoke about this for years. Whether it gets me in trouble speaking about it, whether it holds me back at certain times, it probably does.

“But at the end of the day it'll happen one day and I know it'll happen, so I'm just going to keep working hard day in, day out and my time will come. I was 100 per cent born ready.

“I’ve just got to be ready for when that time comes. There's no excuses when you step over that white line.

“You've got to puff your chest out and go for it and everything that you've put in day in, day out, all the training, everything, pays off.”

But The Sun have reported that De Gea is not going to just roll over for the No.1 shirt, with the Spaniard believing still lies at United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already agreed to bring Tom Heaton to the club as third goalkeeper after he was released by Aston Villa.

While Henderson earned praise for his performances last season, with Jose Mourinho claiming the 24-year-old is ready to take the lead between the posts.

But the report states that De Gea believes he will be first choice – and he has not been given an indication by United they are looking to offload him.
