Arsenal technical director Edu has responded to William Saliba after the defender’s comments on his situation at the club.
The centre-back, who spent last season on loan at French side St Etienne after joining the Gunners in 2019, took to Instagram to take a few subtle shots at Mikel Arteta.
He commented on an Instagram post from Matteo Guendouzi with a series of fire emojis to congratulate the midfielder on scoring for Hertha Berlin – where he is currently on loan.
Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe replied saying: “That’s your problem, you comment on everything,” along with a laughing emoji.
Saliba then replied saying: “Hahaha I’m sending well wishes to the brother who was locked up like me.”
Guendouzi replied to that saying: “We’re together, my little brother.”
Now, Edu has appeared to respond to Saliba, and explained he will be speaking with Arteta about how to deal with the youngster’s problem.
He said: “Maybe he needs a little more time.
“He’s a bright talent. We need to talk with him and Mikel to plan for next year.”
Saliba seems to have no immediate future at Arsenal, having been left out of the club’s Europa League squad.
And Arteta recently conceded that Saliba could be on his way out of the club in January in order to regain some confidence.
“It's something that we are discussing at the moment,” said the Arsenal manager.
“The best thing for us to do. It will be decided soon.”
