Jack Grealish has revealed how Erling Haaland teased him over his £100million price tag — and backed the Manchester City striker to be “unstoppable” next season.

Haaland is a new signing at the Etihad Stadium after moving in a £51m deal from Borussia Dortmund in June. And the Norwegian arrives with a reputation for finding the back of the net, having netted 86 times in just 89 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit.

However, he is gradually being eased into Pep Guardiola’s squad after an extended post-season break and was left out of the 2-1 win over Club America in Houston on Wednesday.

Questions have been raised about whether the towering forward can adapt to City’s patient, possession-based game. But Grealish believes it is only a matter of time before the 22-year-old proves to be just as devastating as he was in front of goal during his time in Germany.

“Erling's looked good in training and once he reaches full fitness will be unstoppable”, Grealish said, as quoted by The Daily Mail. "I can't wait to play with him and I'm really looking forward to it. He is a great guy, a brilliant guy. The first day that I met him we took a car together and even after that ride I thought, ‘what a guy’.”

Grealish has grown close with Haaland since he joined the club last month and the pair have got acquainted with each other due to their no-nonsense approach to their lives as footballers, with City fans hoping for a bromance to materialise.

Haaland has gained a reputation for his candid persona and that includes being straight up with his team-mates, as Grealish lifted the lid on how the striker made a joke at his expense, taking aim at his exorbitant transfer fee after moving from Aston Villa last summer.

“He's so down to earth and quite up front with the way he is. You get used to that. He actually said to me, 'I'm only half the price of you so I haven't got the pressure’. Obviously it's always going to be big expectations but nowadays you have to deal with it.

"I suppose if he misses a chance or whatever then people are always going to have something to say. I've had to get used to it myself.”

Grealish attracted criticism in his debut campaign at the Etihad Stadium after scoring only three Premier League goals last season in 26 appearances following his high-profile switch.

But with Raheem Sterling leaving for Chelsea in a £47m deal, it has left the door open for Grealish to make the left-wing spot his own.

And if Haaland is to become unstoppable next season, the England international will be hoping to have some part in making that happen.
