Mauricio Pochettino wants a reunion with former Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen at Paris Saint-Germain.

The ex-Spurs boss has joined the French champions as manager after more than a year out of the game and wants to immediately improve his squad in the January transfer window.

There has been talk of a loan move for out-of-favour Tottenham star Dele Alli, who came to prominence under Pochettino during their years together at Spurs.

But Sportsmail understands that Pochettino sees Eriksen as a more attainable target.

Spurs are currently reluctant to let Alli go anywhere on loan, even though he is out of the picture under Jose Mourinho, and would have to be persuaded.

Eriksen, though, is having a torrid time at Inter only a year after leaving Tottenham for Italy and would jump at the chance of a fresh start.

The 28-year-old playmaker was a fundamental part of Pochettino’s team at Spurs and played in the team who reached the Champions League final in 2019.

Though never a fan of the infamous double training sessions put on by Pochettino and his assistant Jesus Perez, Eriksen was often the creative spark in a side who also challenged for the Premier League title in 2016.

He left for Inter for £17million last January after refusing a new contract but has not settled and has made only a dozen Serie A starts in the last 12 months.
