Kylian Mbappe could pose an even bigger threat than usual to Manchester City – after two inches were added to his height for FIFA 22.

Mbappe will spearhead PSG's bid for revenge in the Champions League on Tuesday after Pep Guardiola's side won their semi-final last season.

The striker has already plundered four goals this season and will look to add to that tally at the Parc des Princes.

And gaming fans have noticed that Mbappe has grown in stature since the last campaign, as he will be 6ft tall in FIFA 22, which is released on Friday.

Mbappe is actually around 5ft 10ins, which was his height in FIFA 21.

But the 22-year-old appears to have had a late growth spurt ahead of the release of the new game, leaving many fans wondering whether his extra height boost has anything to with the fact he stars on the front cover.

Responding to a post titled "Did EA seriously add 2 inches to Mbappe's official height?", one user replied: "He's practically the owner of EA Sports."

Another joked "they referenced his tinder profile", which drew the response: "FIFA is his tinder profile."

"Height can change with age and heels," joked another.

The news had Redditors reminiscing about when Cristiano Ronaldo's height was changed from 6ft 1ins to his actual height of 6ft 2ins for FIFA 2015 – while Kalidou Koulibaly was a towering 6ft 5ins for a while.

"I remember when Koulibaly was 6'5" in FIFA lol," wrote one user, with another replying: "Everyone thought he was 6'5 for years including Napoli."

In reality the Napoli centre-back is a mere 6ft 1ins – but one Redditor helpfully pointed out that game creators probably manipulate some stats to help players with certain attributes important to their position.

"I think EA just do some balancing," read the post. "Height being important for certain things, if he was smaller he would be a different player in the game and they want him to be a certain way, in this case a bit taller.

"They can't do everything realistically, none of the stats are actually accurate either, because how do you realistically measure any of them, it's all for the sake of balancing."

The debate rumbles on – but meanwhile City will no doubt be glad they're only facing 5ft 10ins of Mbappe and not the enhanced version.
