Romaine Sawyers had a moment to forget for West Brom with a horrendous own-goal in their match against Leeds.
After the delight of walking away from Anfield with a point on Sunday, West Brom’s first-half performance against Marcelo Bielsa’s side couldn’t get any worse as they went into the break 4-0 down.
And it was a disastrous moment for Sawyers which put the visitors in-front after just eight minutes.

Sam Allardyce could not believe what he saw when West Brom gifted Leeds the opener
The 29-year-old came under pressure from a Leeds defender and tried to play the ball back to Sam Johnstone but did look at where his goalkeeper was before playing the pass.
Johnstone couldn’t get back into position and time and the ball went into the back of the net from Sawyers who had played the ball from some 25 yards out.
West Brom manager Sam Allardyce slumped back in his chair and couldn’t believe what he saw as Leeds celebrated getting the opening goal.
Leeds’ social account wasted no time to rub it in, posting: ‘Sawyers with a great goal.’
Fans couldn’t believe what they just saw and took to social media in astonishment at the mistake by Sawyers.
One user commented that it was the most ‘sunday league goal’ he’s ever seen while another person tweeted: ‘You’d hardly see a more comical own goal than that scored by Sawyers to beat Sam Johnstone. It’s as bad as it gets.’
Sam Johnstone couldn’t get back in time to stop Sawyers’ 25-yard own-goal against Leeds
Sawyer’s embarrassment was also described as a ‘shocker’ and the ‘worst own goal’ ever seen in the Premier League.
One person even said that the own goal justified paying the monthly price for Amazon Prime.
They said: ‘The West Brom own goal justifies a month’s Amazon Prime on it’s own didn’t it. Sensational.
‘Fair play to the Leeds players for not rubbing in a fellow player’s humilation by celebrating or acknowledging the goal had even happened. Model pros.’
Things got from bad to worse for the hosts with goals from Ezgjan Alioski, Jack Harrison and Rodrigo adding to the scoreline in a horrendous first-half for the Baggies.
