Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith-Rowe was the subject of a substantial bid for Aston Villa, which was rejected, with manager Mikel Arteta claiming the player was “staying here 100%”.
The Gunners are reportedly keen on signing four players including a goalkeeper, a defender and two midfielders, having already announced the transfer of Portuguese left-back Nuno Taveres.
To do that, they will have to sell players, and there are some in the squad that could be on the move this summer.
But who will the Gunners decide to flog this summer as Arteta looks to add to his transfer budget.
Hector Bellerin could be on his way out of the Emirates Stadium after failing to solidify a first-team spot under Arteta over the last few years.
The right-back was expected to be the Gunners’ first-choice for several years, but long-term injury issues have put those plans in doubt, and consistency has been rare.
Italian champions Inter are keen on the player, having been outpriced in a move for Denzel Dumfries, given his impressive displays for the Netherlands at Euro 2020.
Granit Xhaka was always on the fringes at Arsenal with fans often unimpressed with his performances over the years, and a fine summer at Euro 2020 has raised interest in him.
Jose Mourinho’s Roma have reportedly been close to a deal for him for weeks, while Juventus are also keeping tabs on the Swiss midfielder in case a move for Manuel Locatelli doesn’t work out.
A sale could bring about £20m for the club.
Joe Willock spent the second half of the 2020-21 season on loan at Newcastle United and the 21-year-old quickly became a fan favourite, scoring eight goals in 14 appearances.
While Arteta has made his desire to keep Willock at the club this season, the Magpies are keen on bringing him back on another loan spell.
Arsenal have interest in other midfielders like Albert Sambi Lokonga, and should a deal materialize, it could pave the way for Willock to go.

Eddie Nketiah only has a year left on his contract at Arsenal and it’s not certain whether the 22-year-old will extend, meaning he could be departing this summer.
There is plenty of interest from Premier League clubs in the player, most notably from Crystal Palace, where new boss Patrick Vieira is a fan.
Others such as Brighton and Watford are also keeping an eye on Nketiah’s situation at Arsenal.
