Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has spoken out after his side’s 3-0 win over Everton on Saturday. Ilkay Gundogan netted twice for the visitors, with Erling Haaland also on target. And they’re now on the brink of winning the Premier League title for the third year in a row.

Manchester City went into the game against Everton looking for an 11th straight Premier League win.

They were initially made to wait, with the Toffees proving to be sticky opponents, before Gundogan put them ahead in the 37th minute.

Haaland then struck two minutes later, heading past Jordan Pickford from close range.

And Gundogan made the result safe when he curled home a sublime free-kick in the second half, before both goalscorers made way with next week’s Champions League clash with Real Madrid in mind.

The result means City now require just two wins to make it three league titles on the trot.

And Guardiola has now revealed he’s told his players to enjoy the pressure as they look to emulate rivals Manchester United by winning a treble.

“Between the Champions League semis it’s difficult here after won Everton scored five against Brighton,” he told BBC Sport.

“From minute one we took the game in our hands. It was a brilliant performance at the end of a season.

“We need two more victories to be champions. Step by step recovery.

“They defended deep. Their transitions are amazing. They are the best team by far in transitions in the league.

“We controlled the game. We were patient and attacked the spaces.

“Gundogan arriving in the box is amazing. Really really important.

“Every time we win you bring energy for the next game. We are recovering well.

“Semi final of the Champions League against Real Madrid at home, what can you say?

“I said to the players try to relax and just do what you have done for the last four or five years.”

Gundogan also spoke out after the game and admitted he was confident City could go on to secure another league title.

“I think we have a very experienced team,” said the Germany international after his fine double.

“It’s not really an unusual situation to us, competing for the last few games of the season with someone else.

“The margins for mistakes is very slim, we know that, and I think [the fact] that we were able to live these moments already in the past helps us a lot.

“Sometimes it’s about staying calm and trusting in your abilities, even though it was tough today in the first half. That is exactly what we have done.”

He added: “I felt that I was free because both of the centre backs were focused on Erling [Haaland].

“I saw the space but the ball was a little bit behind my run so I had to adjust and somehow I was able to take a touch, I just tried my luck and it worked out perfectly.”

City are next in action against Real Madrid on Wednesday (8pm).

And victory would see them through to the Champions League final for the second time in their history.
