Man Utd: Was Solskjaer right to start Pogba in derby?

Manchester United chief Ed Woodward is ready to sanction four more transfers to complete Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad. Express Sport runs you through just how the team could line up and the options that would be available to the Norwegian.

David de Gea and Dean Henderson are a strong pairing in goal for Solskjaer to choose from.

Sergio Romero is expected to leave after being frozen out but this won’t be a position United will look to recruit for.

United would like to bring in a partner for Harry Maguire with Victor Lindelof the only real other option they have.

Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo and Eric Bailly could all be let go with Axel Tuanzebe inexperienced at this stage.

The Manchester Evening News claim United have scouted Brighton’s Ben White and are also looking at RB Leipzig star Dayot Upamecano and are long-term fans of Raphael Varane.

United also want to strengthen at right-back with Kieran Trippier an option.

The former Tottenham full-back would be interested in moving to Old Trafford and is a boyhood fan of the club.

The same report says United are interested in signing Declan Rice from West Ham after his impressive displays this season.

He would likely be a replacement for Paul Pogba who is expected to leave next summer.

That follows comments from Mino Raiola saying he was looking for an exit from Old Trafford.

Solskjaer is also keen to sign a winger with Jadon Sancho a possibility once again.

A striker may be one area the club don’t look to invest with Marcus Rashford, Edinson Cavani, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood as options.

Odion Ighalo ends his loan spell in January and will return to the Chinese Super League.

Greenwood is the man most likely to lead the line for the Red Devils in the long-term.
