Jadon Sancho is having his Manchester United medical on Tuesday following England's Euro 2020 final defeat at the hands of Italy ahead of his £73m transfer from Borussia Dortmund.

The former Manchester City youngster was one of three unfortunate England stars to miss from the spot during the shoot-out, with Roberto Mancini's men missing twice.

Attention now turns back to domestic football, with Sancho looking to prove his ability in the Premier League following three full seasons in Germany.

Sancho managed 50 goals and 64 assists during his time with Dortmund, twice being named in the Bundesliga team of the season and three times as the player of the month.

Sky Sports News report that the 21-year-old, who has also already agreed personal terms, will complete his medical on Tuesday before going on holiday.

They add that Donyell Malen and Noni Madueke could be brought in as a replacement by Dortmund, who are keen to keep hold of Erling Haaland.

Sancho will join England team-mates Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford at Old Trafford, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men looking for silverware.

A deal in principle for the forward was announced by United at the start of the month, with his quarter-final performance against Ukraine impressing his new supporters.

"Manchester United is delighted to announce it has reached agreement in principle with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of Jadon Sancho," the Premier League club said in a statement.

"The signing is subject to contractual terms and a medical, which will be completed after Jadon's involvement in the UEFA European Championship."

United hero Louis Saha told GamblingDeals.com when asked about links to Sancho: "If he links up with a proper striker in this United side, they’ll be unstoppable. United have Bruno Fernandes, who can create, but sometimes force the passes, because he’s not quick enough.

"He has to stop, and then everyone can see that he’s going to pass the ball. Sancho is doing it by dribbling and driving forward and then picking the pass. This is what is missing sometimes.

"Sometimes, United need this unpredictability and that’s what Sancho is giving you."
