Joey Barton will appear in court this week having been charged with attacking his wife.
Bristol Rovers boss Barton is due at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court to face a single charge of assault by beating court on Monday over the alleged assault on Georgia.
The Sun claim she suffered a head injury during the incident at a house in Kew, South West London.
It's believed the assault took place on June 2, just days before their wedding anniversary.
Barton and Georgia are reportedly childhood sweethearts who married two years ago.
Police have confirmed a 38-year-old man was arrested and later charged with a spokesman for the Met Police saying: “Joseph Barton, of Widnes, Cheshire, is due to appear on bail on Monday, July 26, at Wimbledon magistrates’ court charged with assault by beating.
“The charge relates to an incident which took place at a residential property in Kew on Wednesday, June 2 in which a woman received a head injury. London Ambulance Service did not attend.
“A 38-year-old man was arrested on June 2, bailed pending further enquiries, and subsequently charged.”
Daily Star Sport have contacted Bristol Rovers for comment while the League Managers’ Association refused to comment to The Sun.
Despite the charge, Georgia had posted a photo of Barton and their children just weeks after the alleged assault.
Her social media message said: “Happy Father’s Day, the kids absolutely adore you. Thank you for everything you do to them.”
